Parents of TK through 5th graders:
Please give your kids a final push to read!
This year’s Read-a-Thon ends Friday, Feb 20th. Help your readers earn well-deserved money for their classroom teacher; 50 percent of the fundraising profits will go directly to our kids’ teachers to buy school supplies.
Help your kids fill out their pledge forms and collect their dollars!
Another reminder: The Stanford book marks are also due on Feb 20th. If students read 10 books, they earn a free ticket to a Stanford basketball game on Sunday, March 1st.
Thank you for your support!
Happy reading!
Hi Clifford families, teachers & staff,
Come on down to the Clifford campus for our February meeting this Thursday.
A light meal will be served upon your arrival, and children are welcome to come along and sit quietly in the Library (on-site childcare is not available).
Hear about all the great things that are happening at our great school: the Read-a-thon, for example, along with other events that have happened–including The Little Mermaid school musical and Rio 2 Movie Night! And so much more.
See you there.
Students, are you ready to hit the dance floor after the final school bell?!
Well, a new performing arts enrichment program has begun for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders on Wednesdays (started Feb 11). And 4th & 5th graders have a class on Mondays (started Feb 23).
Spots are available in both classes–and if your student is starting late, the fee is pro-rated.
The dance program’s teacher is Danny G, a wonderful choreographer, well-known in the community for his work with Adelante, John Gill, Roosevelt, Hawes, along with other schools in the Bay Area. Danny has also choreographed many San Carlos Children’s Theater productions––and he has taught at SCCT camps.
1st, 2nd & 3rd Graders
4th & 5th Graders
NO CLASS DURING SPRING BREAK.
To sign up your student
View Danny G’s flier for 1st-3rd graders here, and the flier for 4th-5th graders here.
Dance attire
Have your student wear sneakers along with loose clothing — leggings or shorts and comfortable t-shirts / tops!
Performance clips
Ready for some Kool & The Gang action?! Check out this fun YouTube video where Danny G’s John Gill students move and groove to “Celebration!”
For some 1950s moves, see more John Gill students dancing to Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes on this YouTube segment.
And lastly, a nod to Mary Poppins: See these super dancers perform the Penguin Dance — and then they dance to “Party Rock” by LMFAO. This group of students won 1st Place in the downtown parade, too!
Enjoy!
Keep Calm And Cupcake On!
Right before President’s Day weekend, come join us for cupcake decorating and a fun evening with Clifford parents. Light snacks and beverages will be provided, and you can play some games, too!
Take home a box of your own personalized gourmet cupcakes at the end of the evening.
Adults only, please.
RSVP: CliffordPTO@yahoo.com
This event is sponsored by the PTO.
See you there!
Greetings Clifford families,
You are all invited to this Friday’s movie night at the MUB at 6PM, to help raise funds for 5th Graders’ Outdoor Ed (in February). Rio 2 — the top pick voted by 5th Graders — will be showing!
A $5-per-family donation is suggested.
Pizza, drinks, popcorn & snacks will be on sale.
Bring blankies and pillows, and make yourselves cosy! A kiddie corner will be available, too.
See you there!
We have updated Clifford School’s Art in Action exhibit in Redwood City downtown library in the children’s section. The 3rd graders’ “Starry Night” paintings inspired by Van Gogh are on display.
If you haven’t seen the Art in Action library exhibit yet, we encourage you to visit! Selby Lane, Orion, Redeemer, Roy Cloud, Clifford & Adelante elementary schools are participating, and each school displays and updates their students’ artwork monthly.
Please come and check out fellow-students’ artwork!

Did you know that Mrs. Garcia’s 6th Graders have their very own newspaper, The Dolphin Splash?
Well, check out the first edition of 2015. The Dolphin Splash articles and poetry are written by students in Mrs. Garcia’s Exploratory Writing Class.
Congratulations Mrs. Garcia and student writers!
For previous editions, visit The Dolphin Splash: Star Writers Right Here.
Before the holidays, during the Winter Holiday Gift-Making enrichment program, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders worked on really fun — and festive — projects: They decorated glass and wooden ornaments, and painted a penguin on canvas!
These classes are fun and children create unique gifts for their family members. The children are proud of their art projects!
This spring, the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Gift-Making classes are coming up. Please check the bulletin board outside of the school office for updates, along with the class information flyers, which will be included in the children’s folders sometime in April.
Psh, psh, psh. Swish, swish, swish. Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.
These are some of the sounds you might encounter roaming around under the sea: gliding mermaids, thriving fish, oceanic plants swaying — along with the thrill of a bubbling and gurgling world under water!
Clifford School PTO and the San Carlos Children’s Theater proudly present Disney’s LITTLE MERMAID JR, February 6, 7, and 8, 2015.
As you read this, rehearsals are concluding, sets are complete, costumes are getting perfected, makeup plans are in motion–and teams of other parents are focused on ticket sales, program print production, concessions, and more!
Join us as we journey under the sea with Ariel and her aquatic friends. Clifford students, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, will be performing in this colorful and enchanting musical based on the 2008 Broadway hit.
The Little Mermaid will have you singing popular songs like “Part of Your World” and “Under the Sea” long after the show’s over!
