Programs / Programas

The Clifford School PTO helps provide the children a rich and diverse learning experience.  We bring enrichment programs and bridge funding for essential programs, when needed.

Detailed below are the major programs that the PTO sponsors through funding and/or volunteer efforts.

  • K-5 PE Program (100% Funding)
    The Clifford School PTO fully funds the P.E. program for grades K-5th.

  • Marine Science Institute Program (100% Funding)
    The Clifford School PTO fully funds our K-3 Marine Science Institute on-site field trip program.  The program provides grade-specific learning that is tied to the standard curriculum and expands skills and/or knowledge in specific science subject areas.

  • Art in Action (100% Funding)
    The Clifford School PTO fully funds and operates the amazing Art in Action program for grades K-8. Through this completely volunteer driven effort, this program provides an art curriculum that builds students’ understanding of art as well as art skills. Based on masterpieces by famous artists, the program lessons develop basic art skills, teach the vocabulary of art, and build an appreciation of art.   • Project Cornerstone - Elementary (100% Funding)
    Project Cornerstone’s Asset Building Champions (ABCs) are caring adults who read books, lead discussions, and facilitate activities with students in class / online. Through the messages of select stories and activities, we help build a school-wide language for handling social-emotional and relationship matters and empower students to make good choices.   • Project Cornerstone - Middle School (100% Funding)

    The Middle School SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) Curriculum is a parent and/or staff engagement program designed for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Volunteers and/or staff are trained in core competencies of SEL and the Developmental Assets and Developmental Relationships model for positive youth development. Facilitators lead a lesson using a prepared slide deck with embedded videos, engaging student activities, and discussions in classrooms each month. The program’s goal is to help school communities achieve the following:

    • Help students explore relevant Social and Emotional Learning topics in a safe and caring environment and develop skills to handle age-specific issues.

    • Enhance the relationship between staff and students through the Social and Emotional Learning topics and discussions.

    • Contribute to a positive school climate where every student feels valued and supported to achieve and thrive.

    • Continue asset building language for those students who had Project Cornerstone’s ABC (Asset Building Champions) or Los Dichos programs in their elementary schools.

  • Enrichment Classes
    The Clifford School PTO coordinates after-school enrichment programs to broaden and enrich the experiences of our children. Some of the current and past offerings have been instrumental music, drama, Spanish, chess, lego, robotics, and science. PTO offers scholarships to students who require the financial assitance.

  • Supplemental Classroom Resources
    Each year, the Clifford School PTO provides money for teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms.

  • Staff Appreciation Events
    To show the Clifford School staff just how much we appreciate their efforts and dedication to our children, we host numerous potluck or catered events throughout the year as a treat to the staff.

  • Tutoring (50% funding)
    PTO provides funding for general tutoring and math specific tutoring through Mathnaseum. Placement for these tutoring opportunities are designated by teachers and school staff as needed.

  • Music Education

    PTO is proud to be able to support music education for elementary students 100%. Music for Minors comes in weekly to teach music classes for students in K-3 classes. PTO also provides 50% funding for a middle school music elective for 6-8 students.

  • Library Books

    PTO provides a budget for the school librarian to purchase new books as needed throughout the year.

  • Technology

    PTO is happy to help support the district refresh program for Chromebooks over the next several years.

  • Field Trips

    PTO provides funding for each grade level to go on a field trip each year. This support pays for bussing through the district, reducing costs to families or eliminating it all together.
